Corset Buying Guide
Purchasing a corset is a very important decision. There are many factors that go into choosing the proper corset. Because of this we have tried to put together this corset buying guide to help answer any questions you might have. If you read through the entire guide we are certain that about 99% of your corset buying questions will be answered.
We want to make sure that you get the corset that is just right for you so please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have before you make your purchase.
This guide is for our real corset line, not for the selection of corset tops we carry.
Real Corsets VS. Lingerie Corsets or Corset Tops
Lingerie corsets or corset tops are great for wearing out as you would any other top but should not be considered a corset. A real corset will give you many benefits including: an hourglass figure, good posture/back support, figure training, durability/longevity of a quality garment, and is beautiful as outerwear, clubwear or lingerie.
How our pricing works:
Each of the corset styles has a base price that is listed on it's details page. Usually this price is based on ordering it in satin. When you use the pull down menu to choose the fabric you would like to order your corset in you may see a price in (parenthesis) next to the color/fabric. This is the price that will be added on to the base price listed to make the total amount due for that corset style in that fabric/color choice. For example if the base price is $190.00 and you see "Black Moiré (32.00)" in the color pull down menu $32 will be added on to the base price for a total price of $222. When you go to "Check Out" the price will reflect the total purchase price.
Fabrics and Colors:
For the Vollers corset line any of they styles you see is available in any of the fabrics and colors they offer. If you see a fabric you like from their selection but it is not offered in the corset style wish to purchase please contact us for a quote on how much it will cost to have it made in that fabric for you.
Size Chart:
We have decided not to post the corset size chart on the website. It is often confusing and intimidating and we would rather work with you directly to find the size and style that will work best for your needs. We ask that you include your measurements in the comments box when you make your purchase. We will contact you to talk about the right size before your order is processed.
Please feel free to contact us directly with any questions you might have.
Our corset lines will accommodate someone of any size, from tiny to plus size, and all tastes (gothic, fetish, bridal, traditional, transgender, etc.)
How to select the right size for your waist:
It is our recommendation that you select the size that is 4 inches below your natural waist measurement if your natural waist is under 34". If your natural waist is over 34" we recommend that you select the size that is 6 inches below your natural waist measurement.
How to measure yourself for your corset:
Over Bust - measure around your chest about one inch above your nipple line
Under Bust - measure around your rib cage from where your breasts start to curve (note this is not from where they hang to).
Natural Waist - measure around your waist about one inch above your belly button or where your waist is it's thinnest
High Hips - measure around your waist about 3 - 4 inches below your natural waist
Full Hips - measure around your hips where they are their fullest, usually about 6" below your natural waist line
Note for if you are taller or have a longer torso the high hip location may vary.
A tip on measuring is to look at yourself in the mirror and make sure that you are not angling the tape measure up or down as this will give you a false measurement.
What measurements to include when you order:
Please provide Over Bust, Natural Waist, and Hip measurements with your order to ensure that you're getting a properly fitted garment.
Waist Training:
Styles V4000u and V1870u, in breathable fabrics like satin, are great styles for waist training. While overbust styles are suitable as well, they tend to be too restrictive for everyday wear. For waist training / tightlacing, we like to recommend an underbust style that covers the tummy without going too far over the hips. This allows the focus of compression to be at the waistline. A true commitment to permanent waist-reduction involves 3 things exercising, a healthy diet and a corseting plan. The plan would consist of consistent, weekly corseting goals (committing to wearing the corset for a certain number of hours per day). Doing these 3 things can produce lasting results. Although there are many variables that could affect this including diet, amount of exercise, and corset discipline. It's very important to go slow to achieve realistic, non-harmful results. Corseting in moderation prevents damaging the corset and causing an unpleasant feeling towards the corseting experience.
Custom Sizes:
For the Vollers line we can have any of their corsets custom done to your exact measurements. The cost is approximately 3 times that of the price listed. It is however our experience that over time a true corset will form to fit your body making customs sizing unnecessary.
What's the best size for your torso:
It is our suggestion that those that are short in the torso area should avoid long-line styles like the V411u, V1890u, V1844u. Where as those who are tall and/or long in the torsos can benefit from just about any style.
Transgender Corseting:
We are a transgender friendly site. Here are some styles we recommend for transgender corseting. For underbust: V4000u, V1891u and V1870u. For overbust: V411u and V1904u. Please let us know at the time of your purchase that you are transgender corseting. Along with your measurements please indicate whether the overbust measurement is with or without forms. The styles mentioned above tend to hide breast forms the best.
Vollers Corset Returns
All Vollers corsets are considered custom orders and are therefore non-returnable unless they are found to be defective within 7 days of receipt. We can not be held responsible for inaccurate measurements by the customer. It is because of this that we will work personally with each customer to help obtain their measurements prior to corset purchase.
We know how important getting the right size is in a corset and we want to make sure you are getting the right corset for you.
